The ScoutWalker III is truly a BEAM Walker with ability. Able to follow light using two styles of turning gaits while avoiding obstacles with its tactile sensors, it is a capable walking robot. The ScoutWalker III is the proof that indeed, a two-motor walking robot can turn, and do so effectively. The added bonus to only two motors is that weight goes down, battery life goes up, and simplicity of mechanics make it almost as easy to build as a rolling robot. The ScoutWalker III pushes the limits of BEAM-style electronics, offering light-following behavior, left/right/reverse steering, and hard left/right turning all in a package without a microprocessor.
