The Robot Hexapod Monster is a robot that avoids obstacles by using an infrared emitting diode and a phototransistor as its eyes. The infrared diode emits a signal that when encountered with an obstacle, the infrared signal is reflected back into its transparent sphere and to the phototransistor. Moving by its 6 legs controlled by two gear motors, the robot will turn right once it has encountered an obstacle, and subsequently moves forward again in a straight line when there is no further obstruction in its path. The Hexapod requires two 1.5V batteries for its mechanical movement, and one 9V battery for its electronic systems.
