The creation of the droid caller
Since the utility belt of this costume had a hook on the side of it, I wanted to make something that could hang down from the hook and thought right away that a droid caller would fit very well with the costume since many people on Tatooine have droid callers, and the character was to be a pod-racer mechanic who would need one anyway.
To make the body of the droid caller, I used a white plastic tube, possibly made out of PVC.
After having cut a piece of the tube to the desired length, I sanded the edges smooth.
For the grip of the droid caller, I used a diamond patterned mat from an old camera.
Super-glue was used to glue the grip onto the tube.
An adjustable lens and another unknown part was glued onto the tube.

The same diamond patterned mat was also used on both ends of the part in the middle.
Here you can see the power indicator lamps and the power switch that were added.

Two small rods were also added to the sides of the middle part.
Here you can see the activation switch, along with the frequency adjustment knob.
And lastly, the range adjustment knob.
Here is a convenient composite photo for you, showing all the parts of the droid caller.

You do know that none of the buttons mentioned above really works, right?
To be able to hang the droid caller from the utility belt hook in the first place, a ring at the bottom of it was needed, so one was attached there, obviously.
And there you go, one finished droid caller, ready to zap the brain circuits of a poor defenseless pit-droid.
Now the droid caller is finally finished after only a days work, and it fits nicely onto the utility belt hook of my costume. I am glad to have found such good parts for it to make it look as realistic as possible, and I am very pleased with it and how it turned out looking. Feel free to use any ideas from this tutorial, and good luck building your own droid caller.
